Basically, I have:
- Mac 7100/66 with OS 9
- External Hard Drive case with a 40 MB Apple 40SC SCSI Hard drive
I bought a Quantum Fireball ST SCSI 4.3 Gig Hard Drive for the Ext Case. The case has 3 Jumper wires going to the ID setting switch on the back of the case and 1 extra going to the power supply wires. I put it under ID 1 and follow the Jumper settings I get from:
http://www.maxtor.com/en/documentation/pdf_jumper_settings/fireball_st_ata_jumpers.pdf
Now to describe the wires...
- 3 Jumper wires to the ID Switch
- 1st are Blue and Green wires. (2 openings)
- 2nd is only one yellow wire. (2 openings, one with nothing connected)
- 3rd is a orange and red with one extra opening. Equalling 3 holes. (3 openings with 1 not connected)
- One larger jumper wire wrapped up going into the power supply casing. It's a tandum-wrapped black and red wire that has a longer plastic connector.
Well, I boot up the machine... it doesn't recognize the Hard Drive. I don't know which wires go to which, and playing guessing games would take me FOREVER to find out which does which.
I read somewhere that because this drive leads to nothing, it must be "terminated". Some of the acronyms in the PDF file above stand for unknown (to me, that is) things. Can anyone help me out and get this baby working correctly?
Thanks
- Eric
