yes! same song over and over and over again! yes!
Ignorance! Don't tell me - you've only heard what they play on the radio ?

I bought their album when it came out. ALL of their songs sound the same.
If that's the case then I'd say most bands are like that. They sound similar if you are a casual listener. Contrast My Immortal / Hello and Going Under. Completely different. Now name some bands that are even more different than that.

The 2 songs of linkin park and nickelback sound the same because they are. I trust you've heard that side-by-side comparison with both songs playing at the same time. If they deserve the flak for 2 songs, so be it. But even that's pushing it.

If you really care to listen to EV's music (they've got like 3 albums-worth out there), they are hardly the same. People make casual statements like this all the time and that's because they couldn't give @ sh!t about the music.

there's 4 different versions of my immortal...what one are you referring to

and a lot of the songs on 'fallen' sound the same because ben moody didn't change it up much on that album.
Obviously you're familiar with a lot of the unreleased stuff... Fallen was changed because it had to be "commercialized" before release. It relates to why Origin doesn't exist anymore. Still it doesn't make each song sound the same as the next. My Immortal included in that, btw. I'd still like to understand how bands sound any more different on an album. Slow/melodic songs, hard songs... even the "commercialized" Fallen has that. What's left ?

And it doesn't matter which version of My Immortal... in the "band version" it's still quiet until the very end when they come in for 30 secs. Not sure how that's related though.

it's related because the Origin version was very spacious, basic and uncompressed. the fallen version was just gayed up a little bit with the string section, but the band version was really overproduced, all compressed to hell and unnatural-sounding... kind of like the rest of Fallen!

the older unreleased stuff is cool, i like the darker experimental stuff like so close, october, give unto me...

Is there no difference between the sound of a produced/mixed song vs. a written one from a creative standpoint ? "Sound the same" is arguing they write the same stuff over and over. Or maybe some people just don't care that much.

you like them NFS4? They strike me as whiney queer vocals, and all their backing music sounds virtually identical..it's like 'Take generic whiny Evanescence lyric #52 and sing it over Generic ****** Evanescence Riff #74'....I didn't realize anyone in their 20's liked them

Whiney queer vocals? Only Amy sings IIRC, so how's that queer?

I liked their last album. I am undecided if I will get the new album or not. I haven't heard their latest release.

I loved their first album and saw them in concert when they were at the state fair. They were pretty good. Im moving to Utah in October and they are playing a date out there, so I will most likely go to the concert.

I liked Fallen though I never downloaded all the songs from it. I intend to pick up the cd someday.

Their new single, Call Me When Your Sober, pretty much sucks. I saw the music vid on YouTube. Thing is though, I thought Bring Me to Life sucked until I heard it on the radio. I guess sometimes the video detracts from the music.

Anyway, here's hoping the new cd has better tunes than this first release.

I don't really care for their new stuff to much though, even if Amy Lee is kind of cute. Their old stuff is where it's at.

er, what? every song has to be written, produced and mixed, otherwise there would be no song. i'm saying:

a) the production value of the song must be appropriate for what the artist wants to convey
b) when you use the same power chords in every song, and every song is overproduced (in a bad way), they end up sounding fatiguing/boring/"the same".

This album sucks so far IMO, maybe it'll take time to grow on me but so far it's just not that good IMO.

I have their first CD too, and to my knowledge, none of them even made it to the radio. I believe you have the second cd ;)

Lot of idiots in this thread...you know who you are! ;)

Should be a good album, i really liked Fallen at first, though the more i've listened to it the less i like most of it. Amy has a great voice though. I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, well good morning to you too. Self righteous bastard! :D

As for me, I don't spend nearly as much time on these forums as I used to. I don't have the time nor the inclination anymore to do so. While I have 60,000 posts, the amount that I have posted in the last year has been far less than what it used to be. As for emo, like I said, I don't keep up with with the young hipsters are babbling about. I looked it up on UD, meh.

Been listening to it for 3 days now and it still hasn't "grown on me" or anything like that, I just think it sucks for the most part with the exception of about maybe 3 songs.

Yea i agree its very lackluster. I do like Call Me When Your Sober but its sad thats the only decent song on the album.
