Just put together my new system, amd 1600 and crucial ram on an an epox 8hka+ mobo.
I connected my two harddisks that I had saved from the old computer - the boot-hd contains WinXP + old drivers for the old system, and the other contains a whole lotta important stuff.
So when I try to boot, I get past the bios-checking, and then when it begins to load win (right after DMI Pool) a blue screen comes up saying that "in order to protect my computer, windows will be shutting down now, try to remove any newly installed harddrives and try again". - This also happens in safe mode.
When I try booting with my other HD, I get the message "NTLDR is missing", which probably is because this hd is formatted with NTFS.
So, I need to know how I get into one of my harddisks, so that I can move my data from the XP-disk to the other disk, and format the XP disk for use with my new system.
But how? The only thing I can think of is buying a new hd as a middle-station between the two, or formatting my XP-disk, which I wouldn't like to do before I have saved my data.
I have tried booting from my Win2000 cd-rom, but it still says "NTLDR is missing".
Please help!
