I just flashed to the new 1705 bios, and I went from running my Athlon 4 @ 1.45ghz with a 161mhz FSB, to running it @ 1.46ghz @ 172mhz FSB! Here are some preliminary memory benchmark results...

1607 Bios:

1.2ghz Athlon 4 @ 1.45 ghz (9 X 161) - 904 / 1011 (8862222)

1705 Bios:

1.2ghz Athlon 4 @ 1.46ghz (8.5 X 172) - 955 / 1070 (8872222)

Look good so far...:) Gotta love that 1/5 PCI divider (divisor?)...:)

theres also now a 1711 bios, adds support for the raid versions, and everything else 1705 has, and I think two minor fixes. check out www.amdmb.com for the files or look at the 8k7a group at epoxes news servers, news.epox.com. its official in holand and released as beta on the us forum.

I was thinkin about that... but I decided I didn't want it to get all dusty. Not worried about any heat or static damage, just dust lol :D

Insane3d,

What are your temps? What is the brand HSF you are using and state of case cooling?

What is the voltage set at?

Have you tested this against a tbird to see if the hrdware prefetch comes into play or does the lack of full support by the epox board render this useless at this time? I thought the epox may only not include the sse support right now, so it may not effect hardware prefetch. I ask cause I am wondering if this 1.46 may actually act like a 1.6 to 1.76 tbird do to the talked about 10-15 percent boost which may come into play due to the hardware prefetch.

Impressive as usual Pete. :) I flashed to the 1711 (8K7A+) today, and all is well. PhoenixNet is completely gone, and stability is still great.

I removed the factory Northbridge HSF today also, and man, what a piece of thin junk. The thermal compound was not even making good contact. I have a nice HS that I have been saving for a special project that has a thick base, lots of fins, and a clear 50mm fan. I installed the HS with Arctic Silver thermal adhesive, and I can now run both of my 256MB Crucial sticks together @ 150 CAS2 instead of 2.5. Not quite 172, but good for having 512MB installed, and a nice boost. ;)

Anyway, nice overclock. I may pull a stick of RAM to see how far I could push it now with the new NB HSF.
