New Egg Shipping

4 fans, 2 cheap grills and 2 cathode tubes and Newegg wanted $17 for shipping across 5 states!! That's insane.

Teh Intarwebz...what was true 5 years ago is true today.

You must shop around for the best deal. Newegg...buy $199 worth of stuff = free shipping. Buy $29 worth of stuff =$14.99 shipping. You must shop around.

If you really need it, and Newegg's the only place that has it...well, how BAD do you want it, buddy? 😀

I don't want it that bad. I know they don't make any real money on fans but I didn't expect them to stick me that hard. I'll just get them at CompUSA. Not enough difference to make it worth the wait.

Yeah, I love the Egg to death but they don't charge one shipping rate they add each part separately which sucks. But, to attone for it they do sometimes have great shipping deals on other things like monitors, printers and such. Too bad even refurbs now have a small shipping charge most of the time.

i just got my fedex package today from newegg.

abit mobo - free shipping
2500 xp-m - $1.99 shipping

total shipping - $1.99

ordered tuesday evening, arrived this morning.

They'd probably lose money if they charged you $5 shiiping.

Some companies decide to just lose money on small orders, but why should I pay more for my large parts order to subsidize your grills order? I guess they could just have the shipping be $5 but charge a $10 "small order fee" for orders under $100.

Or they could link in with Fedex's system, make a database of approximate weight and size of each individual item, round up to included packaging size increase, and then give you an exact shipping price on your order that fits with its size.

But that would dissuade big buyers, since they'd end up paying more than they're used to because shipping isn't worked into the price.

Honestly, I make enough large and small orders that I'd prefer to pay more for shipping on the large ones, just so I don't get stung on the small ones. I end up buying items in bulk (when they'll let you) just to get the shipping down to $.99 per item.

Speaking of shipping does anyone know if they insure the package for the true value or just the FEDEX default amount which I assume is $100?

Could be a problem if a $500 package gets damaged or lost.

certain sites are good for certain things. newegg is good for cpu, mobo, other moderatly expensive components

case acessories is defenatly SVC.com's stron point

They really need a smarter system. If you're buying say a CPU and it has shipping charges or not, adding a fan should not increase the shipping charge. We're talking about adding maybe an ounce to the package.
Or say I order a bunch of small items, figure shipping for the entire order not a set shipping price per item.
That's Neweggs biggest flaw and everytime I've had to leave a review or comment I always mention that.

SVC has an awesome selection of fans, good shipping and the CS guys have been nice to me.

? I just ordered a HD and a CD-Rom, like 2.99 shipping. What are you sending it overnight?

its cause Newegg charges shipping for each individual fan
so if the fan cost $1 and shipping is $3 and he buys 4 fans that will be $16 shipped
which is CRAZY!! they have to fix that

i had to order a 6 cheap fans for some PCs and they cheapest they had were the Speeze fans which has a volume discount if you buy 15 or more you free shipping and the price is reduce.
that actually came out cheaper than just ordering the 6 fans by itself!!
