New Egg problems -- am I screwed?

REcently i ordered a 2.4c processor from New Egg to try it on my motherboard, but then decided to return it. Now apparently they received it with it improperly packaged and with about 20 severely bent pins, and will now be sending it back to me. NOw I"m sure that it was fedex' fault that it was ruined, considering the fact they dropped the damn thing right in front of me.

So. what do i do now? New egg told me to contact intel, but my guess is that they won't do anything. I contacted fedex, but they confused the hell out of me and I'm guessing they wont' want to take responsibility.

ANybody have any advice? OR Am i pretty much out 180 dollars?

Why you didn't say anything when you saw them dropping the cpu, I dont get. Cross ur finger and hope u get a new one.

i think you need to get all over Fedex's ass...

call them up and get all irate and start screaming and growling...

youll get what you want, no worries.

Tell FedEx you'll rant about them in some huge online forum saying that they suck... 😛

20 bent pins huh?

people like thugs and pastorjay and erik were getting 2.4b's and 2.53b's from outpost.com with like 70 bent pins...

basically, just bend them back into place and they should be fine...

what's funny is that the more bent pins there wre, the better they got an overclock 🙂

Are you serious? or are you just making stuff up?

How easy are they to bend back? WEll i know they're easy to bend back, but are they prone to break easily? They sure seem fragile.

ANd it looks like I will have to get on fedexes ass. I Just read intel's warranty 🙁

by sending it back to you they are ruining any insurance claim you had with fedex. good luck i guess. you're screwed....

dew.

This is very wierd even if it was dropped I dont see how in the world it would have 20 bent pins. If it was packaged well and placed in the tray like newegg usallay ships them in I dont see it possable. Reguardless good luck!

Yes, it had to be an improper packing job, as I've seen a 1700+ sent in a bare box, with just the little plastic thingy around it. It arrived and was perfect non-doa.

How do you think packages are handled ? They are tossed around all the time.

Was it a retail processor ? If it was how did you repackage it when you sent it back ? Once the plastic thingy Intel ships cpus in has been opened it won't stay shut on it's own unless you glue it or tape it very securely. Same thing with the cardboard box once it's been opened it's very flimsy.

Redly, please tell me how I screwed up. You must be one of those people that blames the rape victim for the crime.

ANd it is a retail box. I was told to stay away from OEM's.

I have fixed a half dozen processors with bent pins with no problems. Some have 20++ bent pins. You just have to be carefull.

Good luck.

Seems to me that if bent pins are the problem, then it was a packaging issue on your part
