Not sure if it's that hot but since I no longer see the BFG card I picked up a couple of these.

What do ppl think of this card? How would it be for an HTPC? I already have a PVR-250 for recording. This would be for playback or to watch another show while the PVR is recording.

Why does your title say "Fry's" but your link goes to newegg...😛

I'd say this is a pretty good deal with the bfg's seeming to dry up. Also, these perform within a few % of the the regular 5900nu's.

I was thinking one thing and typed the other Thanks for pointing that out!

this is a very nice card!

look below, it's in my own system right now. 🙂

It performs within a couple percent of my friends BFG.

But the MSI one only takes 1 PCI slot.

It also has a large heatsink and fan with a very quiet gpu fan which i love
since my P4 has all stealth fans in it.

Excellent card performance and quality-wise. 🙂

I don't know that it makes much of a difference but the MSI card runs a 400MHz Core clock to the Chaintechss 390MHz.
The only thing I see different between the two are the heat sinks on the chaintech but I also like Vivo and the game bundle that comes with the MSI card, Either one looks like a good price.

I saw this and was wondering about it. Can you tell me what are the markings on the memory chips?

I'm not sure it makes much of a difference. Just look at the 9800's, none of them have ramsinks.

5900SE // 5900 // 5900XT // 5900 Ultra ??

I believe the factory set speed is in the order of 5900SE/5900XT//5900//5900Ultra
