I just got an e8500. I currently am running e6850 on Asus P5E. 2x2g Mushkin pc 8500.
I've updated the BIOS to the latest which supports the new processors. I have Windows Vista.

Will I be able to just swap out the cpus? Is there anything I need to do to avoid a reformat?

thanks
Dave

Ok , will do tomorrow morning :)
I'm looking forward to this. This has been, by far my nicest system ever. The P5E was brand new and expensive when I got it,
but it has been great.

My previous system with prescott 3.2 was OK, but I'd get memory errors and the cpu would run very hot.

I'll post tomorrow how it goes. The 6850 I've got running smooth at 9X400 3.6gh. CPU is 44 right now
and never gets above 50 I don't think.

Might want to consider resiting the BIOS to default settings before you drop in the CPU rather than leaving the mobo at the same old settings you used for the e6850. It's a failsafe really.
