The power consumption was impressive but I would have liked to see the numbers while oced to 8500 speeds.

You think the E8500, which has barely even started shipping, will drop by 30% in price within a month?

Hmmm.... ;)

made you sweat though, didn't he, ben? ;)

that must be very nerve-wracking to pay $250 per cpu or whatever for shipments of 1000 cpus, knowing full well that many of them will get sold in 9 mos for $175... :(

I will wait a bit as I am quite happy with my 8400. But I will have to see how fast the 8500's go....

Can be - that's why you have to offset it by ordering in quantities you think you'll be able to move in a reasonable amount of time. Plus, in the case of big price drops, Intel will often times compensate if you have a bunch of product on hand.

Regardless, part of the "game" is knowing what to buy, when to buy it, and how many to snag ;)

gonna be a killer, e8600 (6mb l2, 10x multi) is gonna be a beast as well

10x multiplier would be absolutely incredible.

I have a feeling though that both the E7300 and E8600 are going to be Q3 products, so it will be awhile yet before they arrive.

Newegg e8400. Already $190, but who knows, the price could move up again.

Aw crap! I shouldn't have jumped on a second Xeon E3110.

$190 will probably be the "normal" pricing since the E6750 had a 1k pricing of $183 (same as E8400 now) and Newegg's normal pricing seemed to hover around $189.99-$194.99.
