ive noticed all the dvd burners out right now are only 2.4X DVD+R9 wheres the minus??? will the next line of DL dvds have -R9 or what? im confused i really need - because my dvd player only plays minus. If someone could answer this that would help greatly thanks

cheers

"because my dvd player only plays minus". It will most likely play + discs too if you bitset them to DVD-ROM.
There is no reason to believe -R DL will be more compatible than +R DL as it will also be completely new format and just because your DVD player plays single layer DVD-Rs there is no guarantee it will play DL DVD-Rs.
-R DL is scheduled to be released by the year's end at the earliest.

thanks for the reply but how the heck do you bitset them Belzer? im no noob at computers but burning dvds kinda, how and what does bitset do.

The burner's firmware must support bitsetting so it depends on what writer you have if and how you can do it. DVD writers from for example BenQ, HP, Lite-On, Ricoh and others support bitsetting while for example DVD writers from Optorite, Pioneer and Sony don't support bitsetting.
If you are going to buy a DVD+R DL writer be sure to get one that supports bitsetting as compatibility for +R DL without bitsetting is just about 40-60% while with bitsetting it's more like 80-90% (based on the early tests I've seen).
