New Durons faster then old Thunderbirds?

Just wondering because I think the new Durons have an XP core... SSE? Does that mean they are faster than the old thunderbirds? Thanks.

Not really. The size of the cache has more to do with application speed than SSE optimizations, at least in most scenarios.




edit: Forgot to mention that unless you overclock your Duron it will be saddled with the slower 100Mhz bus which affects performance as well.

The Duropn with the Morgan core is roughly 50MHz slower then an equivalently clocked T-Bird, that is an imporvement to the previous Spitfire core but not quite enough to put it on par with the T-Bird.
There are of course some situations in heavily SSE optimized applications in which the Duron would be equal to or faster, but those or the exception and not very common.
