As my 5-year old GSM phone (Siemens CF62T) is having trouble holding a charge even in standby, I am looking to upgrade. I am on T-Mobile's pay as you go prepaid voice and text plan (contract free). As I do more texting than talking a qwerty keyboard would be nice. Other features I would like are: Bluetooth, Camera, and a basic organizer. The phone needs to be GSM quad band to work in the US on T-Mobile and also in Europe and India.

Being on a prepaid plan, there is no subsidy so my budget is max $100.

I'm looking at Samsung t369 (http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/...t=t369+Prepaid) which is a quad band GSM with a slide-out qwerty keyboard, bluetooth 2.1, 1.3MP camera, some PIM functionality, and takes microSD for photos/music/video. Anyone have this phone? Any other ideas?

Finally, is it as easy to switch phones as physically moving the SIM from one to another or is there more to it than that?

thanks,
sathyan

I don't have the t369, but it looks similar to the Gravity3, which is a pretty good phone. I can't recommend Samsung right now till I know whether or not there's any truth to the rumor that they told T-Mobile to hold back on the Vibrant 2.2 update to drive sales of the Vibrant4G phone.

Yes, you can swap phones by just switching out SIM cards. My family does it all the time.

WELCOME NEWB!

To be fair its a little more complicated than that. The new phone must be unlocked or keyed to your network. Luckily T-mobile is really cool about letting you bring in your own phone so if you need help with the transition its a breeze.

if it's a tmobile branded phone all he needs to do is the sim swap.

WOW that siemens POS? I used to have one of those back in the day, probably one of the worst phones ever made, congrats for staying with it for so long.

Have you looked at a Cliq? You can get those on ebay for $100 easy, and it'll work with your existing prepaid plan. wifi and all the other features are a bonus.

Find a Nokia 6133. I've had one for nearly 3 years now. Never drops calls, good speakerphone quality, decent camera, and most importantly it's bombproof. I can't describe how often I've sent this thing hurtling to the concrete and still works fine.

Edit: Oops, no QWERTY. Still, it's a fantastic dumbphone.
