Well it's heavy. Sounds like it could have been a track left off of Train of Thought.

It's OK I guess, I could really do without Jordan's out-of-place carnival/vaudeville passages though. Also, it sounds similar to On the Backs of Angels in some places (keyboard part after first chorus, start of guitar solo).

And Mangini = beast mode on drums

um...so long time DT fan, but really, it sounds pretty much like DT. They've always went back and forth between light and heavy. Most of what they did in this song has been done in other older songs of theirs. Aside from it being on the heavy side, I thought the vocals were lacking compared to most of their other stuff.

Doesn't sound particularly new to me, but at least it's pretty short/compact and riff-dense, which is something they have a problem with doing.

I wish there was a way to mute the vocals. The only thing that stops me from liking Dream Theater is James LaBrie's effeminate emo singing.

This song actually sounds like part of Systematic Chaos..even the breakdown has those elements, but then, they've always mixed in alternate versions of other songs into new stuff.

For the record my favorite albums are still Train of Thought and Scenes of a Memory.....LaBries second solo effort was pretty decent too, but mostly because of the other singer(screamer) and the heavier edge.

The intro was good. The rest was OK. Sounds like DT. The vocalist is still annoying and corny sounding.

Poor James. He gets so much hate. I think he's a perfect fit for DT. His album Static Impulse is awesome. I'm waiting for my signed copy of Impermanent Resonance to arrive.

The new DT song is a good start. I hope the album is better than A Dramatic Turn of Events.

Yeah, I like James. He's a nice guy, too. If you guys think he sounds whiny and emo, have you heard the original singer?

Of course I like him too. I've got all of the DT studio albums and the only ones I never really listen to are Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Octavarium.
