Download and install Android Commander. You can modify stock alerts/ringtones/alarms.

I may do this for my unlock sound.

Not unless they make a GSM version. The HTC Desire looks nice if I could find one unlocked. I'll probably just get an iPhone 4 though to replace my 3G.
