new drive letters --> no auto play

i changed the drive letters for my dvd and cd-rw drives to free up some letters for new partitions (wanted cd-rom drives as later letters than the hdd partitions). all my apps and everything work fine, however, my cds and dvds will not autoplay on either drive. each time i put a disk in, Win XP Pro asks me if what i want to open the disc with, and if i want to do the same action each time. i set cds to start in winamp each time, but the message keeps coming back. same for powerDVD. also does not work when changing the drive properties (right click on drive, properties, autoplay). i tried poking around in the registry, but couldn't find anything that worked.

anyone have any ideas? any registry entries i should know about? this isn't a huge problem, i guess, just kind of an annoyance. cheers in advance.

Have you tried TweakUI? I had to use this once to get Autoplay to work correctly. It's worth a shot...

tried TweakUI, but no change (I do like the program, though, thanks for pointing me to it). Have also tried the drive mapping utility in Partition Magic 8, but also to no avail.


will i have to suffer the pains of hitting enter each time i put in a disc? the humanity....
