Holy crap, that song is great! I didn't expect anything like it for the first single, and I'm very happy with it. Any of you DMB fans checked it out? I didn't even hear this song on the tour this summer (3 shows)...

It's called 'I Did It,' for those of you who want to listen to it.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!! :) This will be the first CD I've bought since buying DMB's Beneath These Crowded Streets in summer of '98 :Q

Napster has been too good to me, but I WILL pay for a new DMB album :D

Woo-hoo!! New DMB songs/CD!! I was getting sick of the 2:1 normal CD to live CD ratio. They need new music badly (and I do, too).

You guys should check out the business of DMB bootleg trading. Totally legal, people collect their shows, taped by hardcore fans and then traded amongst "daveheads," mostly set up through newsgroups. I have about 50 shows myself, amazing stuff. Everything from a 25 minute long version of "Jimi Thing" with Bela Fleck to shows with Neil Young, Chili Peppers, everything. But I can't wait for their new CD! :D

konichiwa,

I've got around 25 shows (2.52gb). I don't have enough time on the comp. to do it very often anymore, but used to love it. You have the 3.14.99 show w/Tim Reynolds (acoustic)? Great set.

Yeah I do have that one. I also have a couple EARLY shows, like from '92 and '91...at Coffeehouses in VA and stuff, very cool to imagine Dave (and sometimes the band) at these divey little places; on some of the shows you can listen to him say stuff like "We're gonna take a coffee break" and "If you want, there's a bucket for donations to the band" :D

AWESOME. Thanks. I had no idea, but I had thought the other day "Hmmmm....isn't it about time for another DMB album?"

BTW, I think you better remove that link. (But I'm sure glad it was here when I needed it!!!) :)

sweet, I'm excited.

To answer NFS, mines either The Stone, or Granny.

Konichiwa, I have a couple of songs from the Prism Coffeehouse in Charlottsville, I think the date was sometime in 92, they're awesome.

Has anyone ever heard "After Her" It's the same melody as "Satellite" some of the words are the same, it's a cool song. It was developed into Satellite, it was an early version. I found it on Napster.

I'm with NFS, Napster for everything else, but I'll spend the money on Dave.

late.

tDP:

Yeah that was played originally at the Rutebega studios, a demo tape that Dave played. That's where the version from Napster comes. It's a pretty good tape. A great place to get MP3'ed (legal :)) live DMB shows is hearlive.com ... they have the Rutebega demo tapes there too.

Design Dawg, the link is on the DMB main site also, so I doubt they would get mad :)

I think the true DMB fans will despise this album. "I Did It" is alright, a bit of an acquired taste, but has a lot of "pop" in it, something that is clearly evident from producer Glen Ballard.

I was saddened when they hired Ballard, whose background is strong in pop music. Not only will we not see tour favorites as Grey Street and Bartender on this CD, but it will also usher a whole new group of "crash heads". Anyone that's been to a concert know exactly who they are.

I agree. That's part of the reason why a lot of die-hard fans don't like "Crash Into Me," and you can tell the radio listeners (for the most part anyway) when they cheer for it at a concert. ;)

No Offense to those of you who like him but I think that

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND SUCKS!

what do you find that is so great about him? allot of my friends like him and I find it hard to distiguish/understand his lyrics... and I find it hard to respect a band that uses symphony instruments (i.e. - Violin, viola, Trumpets) in their music that is supposedly rock/pop, if you are gonna have those instruments, have a symphony.... That's just my opinion, I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't prefer it...

WHY DO YOU LIKE HIM?
