I LOVED Disturbed's "The Sickness" when it first came out in 2000. Everything since (except for their Land Of Illusion cover!) I LIKED, but didn't like as much as their debut disc. I feel like this goes back to their roots a little bit, with some new stuff as well.
It's got great energy with some small instrumental bits throughout like The Sickness.
I fully recommend it to people who have been disappointed with their offerings since their debut.
I personally don't consider Disturbed to be metal, just hard rock. Here's what the lead singer said:

I agree with him, they're more hard rock. If I want heavy metal, there's alot harder stuff out there. Disturbed fills a niche that I enjoy, not to hard, not too soft. When asked about die-hard metal fans not finding Disturbed heavy enough, frontman David Draiman stated:
We probably have too much melody going on or we're not quite as turbulent or caustic. While I really love that type of music, it's not what we try to do. If we have to place things in context, we're more hard rock than heavy metal these days.
