New Digital Camera for Mother

So I have been out of the Digital Camera game for a long time and looking at getting a new one for my mother as she is going to New Zealand come February and want to replace the crappy polaroid camera that she has.

I have been look a bit and looking at cameras at the 100-$250 range, but not sure really what to look for anymore.

Just need to be a decent point and shoot one, nothing like the high end Canon EOS for example.

Probably preferably Canon of Fuji but willing for other suggestions

Canon SX170 is $150 on Amazon.
Canon SX510 is $219 on Amazon.

Long zooms, plenty of options, manual and automatic controls, great picture quality, HD video with stereo sound and zoom during filming (why do people bother with 1080p and mono audio?), easy to use and easy to carry around.

I think those would work. If she doesn't need the reach, she could probably get away with a Canon S110 or something like it (XZ1, LX7, etc.) which goes on sale for under $200. Thanks for reading OP's post unlike the other poster.

Thanks for those suggestions, I will take a look at them

If anyone still has some suggestions, please leave them

Another vote for Canon S110. It's got a larger sensor than any of the other point and shoots in the same or lower price category.
