So im 17 years old. 5'10" and 190 lbs.... I wouldnt say im fat, but Im def not skinny....

anyways, recently ive cut many things out of my diet, including fast food, sugared pops..ect, and just watching what i eat in general.

Ive been running for about 45 min to an hour every day, about 4-5 miles, depending on how fast (on a tredmill) and lifting weights everyday too (bench press, bicep curls, pushups, and situps)

Is this a good enough plan for someone my age, and when Might I expect to see results for it? Id say I sonsume no more than 1,500 cals a day on my new diet, and the running sure does burn off alot....

does anyone have any suggestions on this? Could I expect to "look" better in late March....thats the ultimate goal? LMK, i need ideas here!

:cheers; to nikimichi for giving me the inspiration/main plan on all this!

Update after 1 week. Lost 4.5 lbs :) w00t

By the way, developing muscle (as long as you're also doing cardio) burns fat faster than anything. And by working your largest muscle groups (glutes, quads, etc.) it accelerates even faster.

You should probably eat more than 1500 calories, that's just unhealthy. Running burns about 100 calories per mile, and you're probably burning at least 1500 cals a day just through your basal metabolism. If you want to lose weight you do want a calorie deficit, but not too much, or else you won't have any energy and will feel like crap. Cutting out the fast food and soda = good though.

If you keep this regimen up, you should see noticeable results in a few months probably.

And if you ask me, treadmills suck. :p props to you if you can handle them though. I can't run on them; I get too bored and they hurt my knees.

Yeah, what I do is rotate my weight workouts where one day focuses on lower body and the next on upper body. Then I do plyometrics at the end of every weight workout. P.S. don't go overboard though, just be consistent.

1500 calories is not enough. Eat somewhere between 2000 and 2500 calories but spread it through out the day so you can get your metabolism faster.

You should just keep your current diet and cut out the fast food and soda, and watch whatever else you eat. As long as you are exercising more, and eating less garbage, you will be healthier and will get into better shape.

Keep positive and good luck. I'm pulling for you. The pushing, on the other hand, must be done by you.

I have similar specs (except for having just turned 18), and am at the beginning of a new exercise and diet commitment, but at this point I'm stuck at needing resources to make sure I'm doing the weightlifting thing properly. Any suggestions? Edit: I have a basic weight bench thing, and have started to use it, but need a very basic guide to what kind of exercises to do. Also, what's a good way to get cardio indoors without a treadmill or other equipment in crappy weather?

Good luck on your plan.

well, Ive been told Jump Roping is really good cardio, and builds legs, as well as, surprisingly... DDR... I tried that for a little bit, it was fun, but got to be a hassle, running is much easier. like, the main motivation for me was...there was nothing to do..... i am SICK of computer games... spent way too much time with them, i need to make use of my time... 50% of the battle is mind, you gotta concentrate and keep with it man!

Can't wait to hit the gym tonight myself. Have not been there in a week due to the Mardi Gras holidays (College gym) and have been doing a little too much partying. First night it is open since last thursday.
