Yeah me. There seems to be an issue with dual displays. Just trying to solve it now.

Mind you I'm getting sick of WinXP and trying to uninstall previous detonator drivers...(Completely) Come back "Windows Default VGA Adapter"... :(

[edit]

Gone back to 41.09's. For some reason I was having resolution issues on my dual monitors. Other than that they seems good.

I'm staying with the 41.09 drivers. Just got my new video card today from newegg.com. ;D I'm going to tweak the system some more. Then run 3Dmark just to see what score I can get with it compare to the old Geforce4 MX440. I really don't care about the score but I was just woundering what I could get. Using the very same system specs as of now but different video cards. Does the 9,782 sound about right for my system? Just kinda woundering thats all. System specs can be seen by using the link in my sig.

64MB EVGA Geforce4 MX440 = 5,600 score

128MB Chaintech Geforce4 TI-4200 = 9,782 score (Without Tweaking)

The 41.09's make my machine take forever to boot. It'll sit at the XP logo screen forever, and then go to a black screen for a long time before it ever gets to the XP login screen. The 40.72's that I'm running don't do that.

I am using the WHQL 40.72 drivers. 11600 3dmark score. No problems with 40.72

( with the 41.09 drivers, I dropped to 10900 )

Do you mean 42.01? If not, your post doesn't make any sense in this thread.

At startup right when my desktop appears, my screen flashes black then back to the desktop like its applying a new refresh rate or something even though it isn't doing that. Same thing happens with when I start WinDVD. I have no idea why it does it with these recent drivers.

Everyone else was giving their performance and opinions on what drivers they were using

I'm more confused about your decision to use a driver based on a bechmark thats been cheated by drivers for so long.

Back on topic. These driver have some texture corruption in Battlefield 1942. ie. Textures disappearing. Also, it appears nVidia is doing something with anisotropic filtering. It looks different than with previous drivers, plus the performance hit is much greater. I get a blue screen every 5 seconds, but I gained 1000 points in 3DMark. I'm keeping these! Just kidding about the last 2 sentences. :)

I am not just using the 40.72 drivers because they give me boost of 3dmark

They are WHQL unlike the 41.09

I liked their beta drivers better when they said what it's supposed to fix. Would include a read me with a list of fixes. Now it just tells you to uninstall previous ones no list of fixes or anything.

I consider all this confusion as rumors because everyone is talking about different drivers. The best way to find out is try them yourself sense all drivers can be different on everyone's system.

The 40.xx WHQL drivers are only good for 3dmark2k1. I think if you run any real game benchmark, you will find that most of the previous drivers 30.xx and 29.xx are much faster than the 40.xx. I gained 1.5fp in UT2003 botmatch when I went from 40.72 to 29.20, that's almost 4% increase (I use to get 34fps Antalus). Not only that, my quake3 score also increased a little.

I think I will stick with these 29.20 driver since they were rated as one of the best IQ out there.

heh yeah NVIDIAs drivers that are leaked and never supposed to be released arent very reliable!!! **GASP**

Use the WHQL official drivers and you have no problems.

Best drivers for my setup so far.
3D Mark 2001 SE (build 330) with DX 9
12,856 (my highest score ever)

Battlefield 1942
CFS3
Hitman 2
UT2K3
NHL and Madden 2003
Ghost Recon
Mafia
all running great.

P4 2.53
512 RDRam
GF4 ti 4400 300/600
etc

Haven't tried with AA or AF yet, usually I use high (1280+) res and I don't like the fillrate hit these GFs get with AF
