I think it's about time to upgrade from the desk/table combo I've been using since college. I've got a foldout wooden table that I use to semi convert my desk area into a corner type desk.

I'm looking for a true corner desk now that my monitors have outgrown being placed on either piece together. I've got two Dell U3011 monitors for reference. My PC case is an Antec 900v3 if anyone needs dimension basis. I'll likely have the tower on the floor though under the desk.

I don't need anything super fancy. Looking to spend $150 or less. Preferably under $100 but I can stretch it out. So far I'm leaning towards something with glass rather than wood. I have been looking at the semi cloudy type glass as it seems it won't show scratches as easily. I have no problem assembling it when it comes in or I pick it up.

Suggestions?

That's a pretty low budget to get anything decent in wood. I'd go with a metal/glass desk like you suggested.

Yeah I don't need anything fancy or extravagant. Just something that works better as a corner desk than my current desk/table combo. And that'll fit 2 30 inch monitors.

Definitely prefer glass over wood at this point. Just my personal preference. Frys had one on sale for $100 about 6-7 months ago that I'm kicking myself over not buying now. Oh well.

Only thing I can suggest on such a limited budget is read the reviews. That's what I always do when I'm not sure about a purchase.

I can't see you getting anything decent with that budget. I'd try to modify a couple used pieces to do what you want. It would be more interesting to look at, and the quality will be higher. Either that, or just keep what you're using, and save money for something decent. Buy once, and buy right.

I'll vouch for Ikea Galants. Great desks. However, you're not going get a large L-shaped Galant for less than $200 (I think mine was $300).

I will also vouch for Galant, but it's out of OP's price range.

He could try the Ikea Vika line, which is stupidly cheap. It's not the stablest line of desks though. If your floor isn't flat, it will wobble. Cardboard doesn't help, so makybe it's just the design.

U can try craigslist. Got my Galant with extension for $50.

Forgot about this... Ikea Galant is a very popular line, especially the L-shaped desks. When I tried looking for cheap legs a few years ago, there were tons of listings for entire desks on the cheap. Lot of students who finished school and moving back home, didn't want to hump it.

Wait wait wait. I just re-read the OP. You have 2 30" monitors..... go spend $500 on a decent desk.

The point is that I don't want to spend $500 on a good desk. A $100-150 desk should do the job. It's not one of the things I want to splurge on.

Screw a computer desk. I sit in an accent chair with a wooden board on the arms that sits the mouse and keyboard. 42" monitor sits in a contemporary entertainment center. Pretty damn comfortable.

I'm trying to sell my Black Galant desk from Ikea right now.

galant-desk-combination-left-half-round__64870_PE175052_S4.jpg

That is mine except in black. And I have two round end bits for either side. Same legs. It is about 4 years old. Has some nicks but nothing some TLC couldn't fix.

Central FL. Let me know if you want it. :p

At that price, a single piece of wood or solid core door and milk crates. If you get the top for a good price you can maybe upgrade the milk crates to cinder blocks.

I can't wait till spring, so I can finish my desk. Started to build one for myself but winter came too fast and never finished it. Frozen wood does not cut or screw very well.

Formica counter top, build some legs, and a couple of filing cabinets for storage.

Or find a local auction place for office furniture.
