SP2208WFP - 22"

E248WFP - 24"

Seem to be good specs on the 22" comparable to the Sammy 226bw. The 24" has a 5ms response time which is lower than most 24" no clue as to whether both are TNs or not.

My question is: How does Apple sell their 20" wide screen for $599?
It has a 16 ms response time, and only 700:1 contrast ratio.
The Dell also includes a built-in web cam; the Apple does not.

Dell uses cheap panels and hardware, Apple (last time I checked) used s-ips panels. They also like to rip people off, but there's at least SOME reason for it.

Although Apple chooses looks over ergonomics (what a surprise!). I mean come on, where is the adjustable stand? Sitting hunched over you $600+ screen has got to suck.

This sucks, the 22" has a 2ms grey to grey response time, so it's most likely a TN panel as well. Does anyone know if Dell is still going to sell their 2007WFP monitor? I've been looking for a good widescreen monitor that has a good panel in it (S-IPS) since I do a lot of web/design work.

More like the "Apple Tax" makes it that much more expensive.

Dells could have cheap parts, but in my experience, I've had some pretty good screens from them. Don't buy into the Apple hype and overpay for an already overvalued, overhyped, and downright inferior product for a higher price.

And TN for all... at $400 it is decent deal, especially for somebody who does professional work.

Hard to say, what about NEC though? NEC isn't good looking at all, doesn't have much ergonomics other than the adjustable stand. And it costs more than the Apple Cinema display (whether it uses better panels or not I don't know).

I mean I have an NEC 2690wuxi which is rated number here on Anandtech for media work, but it costs more than most 42" LCD TVs.

Apple doesn't sell a product, it sells a lifestyle.

People who buy apple are "living the apple experience". And they do so by buying propritery software that only works with specific locked hardware that costs 4 times as much as buying it from any other vendor...

Amusingly enough, they cracked the copy protection on macosx so you can now run it on any pc you want.

Oh thank god, it is only a budged oriented version of my ultrasharp 24inch (700$)... I thought I would have to sell it and get an upgrade but no, i am still good :)
