Don't worry about the E248WFP. Being the "E" series (for "economy"), it's almost certain it has a TN panel.

you can buy my 244t from samsung ~smiles~ for 400. Anyways. I believe that Dell is made from Samsung anyways. That new one, hs the same exact button standards as the old Samsung 22 and 24 incher. Ofcourse, Dell has always been in cohuts with Samsung, so , you probably have the same monitor as that one.

So I see that the Dell E248WFP is now available at the Dell site. Any idea how this compares to the 2407WFP? I need to buy a reliable 24" monitor after wasting time on two Soyos. The new Dell's price is enticing...

I really need to buy something ASAP...

yeah... i'm curious as to this one too.

I should just cancel my 2407WFP-HC and get this one.... I've got one 2407WFP-HC already, but the multicard reader doesn't work on it 🙁

I think high end Dells are made by BenQ. I compared my 2407WFP HC to a Samsung "High end" 24 inch side-by-side and it was like night and day. The viewing angles on the Samsung were terrible, and the color on the Dell made the Samsung look terribly washed out. These definately weren't manufactured by the same company. Does anybody know for sure who makes Dell's panels?

I think that they are all samsung, just different panel types. The cheaper samsungs that you're talking about are probably tn's.

I think you would be out of your mind to trade in for an "E" version. The "E" = TN, no doubt in my mind. If you don't value color accuracy or viewing angles, then by all means trade it in. But saying you want to trade it in because your card reader doesn't work couldn't be true, the "E" panel doesn't even have one.

What happened to the soyos? I have one and am loving it 🙂

I'm working on dual Soyo 24" monitors right now.

Unfortunately my first one melted on me about 4 days after buying it. I exchanged it a couple days ago and now my second one has developed the dreaded "black line" problem. While the other of the original two has yet to show a problem, I plan on returning both of them in the next couple days.

I've bought cheap monitors in the past, and while they might not display the highest quality picture, they've always worked. The Soyos, in this case, have displayed an excellent picture when they've worked. But they are failing at an alarming rate.

I need to get a more dependable monitor, and if the new Dell 24" matches the color quality of the old one, I'm all over it for a $200 savings. But I'll still be down to one 24" plus a 19". Not that I should complain about such a situation.

Sadly I haven't seen _any_ information online about how this new Dell 24" actually performs.
