New Dell LCD incompatible with XP/Geforce3 Ti500?

I'm having a heck of a time here, I can't be the only one 🙂

I have a GeForce3 Ti500, a new dell 1800FP LCD. I had W2K on the box, but upon boot up the monitor would always go into "Power Saving Mode" in DVI. Analog always works fine.

So I did a fresh install of windows XP. Everything is groovy. Now I try and install the latest Geforce Drivers. Bang, same story.

So I uninstall the Geforce drivers and let M$ install its own Geforce3 drivers. OK, I now have DVI output at 640x480. But if I try to apply ANY OTHER RESOLUTION SETTINGS, boom I'm back into power saving mode. I'm going to call Dell tomorrow but I'm sure I spend 8 hours with a runaround with them, figured a brilliant AT'er would have a solution first 🙂

Well after HOURS of screwing with this and searching the internet like crazy, I finally came across this post:

that explains how to update your bios on a GeForce. There had to be 50 of the same question on the Dell board, and the Dell mod every time had the same stupid "set your power settings to never, no hibernate" answer. This did fix it.
