Nice...

Its thinner isnt it?

The weight also sounds good for the screen size.

No. They haven't made the official announcement yet. The release date has been rumored to be early November.

Since this catalog is hitting mailboxes, I guess you could call up and see what they say if you try to order one. ;)

I can't see spending $2k on a laptop when I have a nice desktop. If laptop video was comparable to a PC I'd just sell it and move completely to a laptop.

Prices will fall once the "newness" fades...

I can't see spending $2K when I just ordered a faster 9100 for under $1k. :D

That too. I just want a laptop with a nice screen, excellent video, a 20gb hdd, and a dvd-rom. I want something that performs good, but I don't need lots of storage or utility.

I believe the 9100 was 2 inches thick, so it's thinner. The 9100 was also closer to 9 pounds. Good to see it shed some weight.

Check this out

Battalion 101 SC- [AMD

LINK FIXED: AMD 3000+ system from ibuypower.com

AMD Mobile 3000+ system is $1786 - but that includes 512 RAM, 60 gig hd, wireless g included, built in web cam, 17" WSXGA (that you were hoping for). Other various ports. Same video card. 7-in-1 card reader/writer

For $39 more - you can get a 3200+

Probably no free shipping or extra software

As Apone12 posted, the 9200 is now up on Dell's site available to order with a ship date of 12/3.

I've updated the original post with two additions/corrections to the OP. WUXGA (1920x1200) is an option and there is also a DVI port in addition to VGA. Both details are not in Dell's printed catalog.

No WUXGA screen.

Nevermind, there is a WUXGA option.

Anyhow, I still like the ZT3000 from HP. Although its only 15.4" WUXGA, its thinner, lighter, and cheaper.

Dang

Just got a coupon for 25% off from dell.

Price on the 9200 is

$1,274.25

Very tempting.

Looking at the specs the WSXGA screen is 200nits and the WUXGA is only 185nits

does 15 nits make a big different.

Really like the specs on this laptop. Other than the lack of gig ethernet everything else looks swell.

i'm still wondering is 9100 faster than the mobile m cpus ? the anandtech says that's not always the case, but then again their p4 system is equipped bit slower single channel ddr333. Anyone has some experience with both ?
