New Dell E6330 Latitude Notebook - Awful Screen

My work buys me a New Dell Latitude Laptop every 2.5 years. Well 2.5 years went by and I was told I'm eligible to buy a new system.

Now this is a perk of my work - It's my laptop - but work pays for it, but we are limited to Dell Latitudes or MacBook Airs. I do not know why, it's just the way it is. I am not a big fan of Apple so I went Dell again as overall, my E4310 has held up very well - and I have some Windows only indie type games I like to play on the road.

As I take it with me everywhere, I prefer the 13" Models.

I have a Dell E4310 13.3" with a i5-580m, Intel HD Graphics, 8GB Ram and 1366x768 Screen now.

I received my replacement today, a Dell E6330 with an Ivy Bridge i7 , 16GB of Ram, Intel HD 4000, and the same 13.3" 1366x768 screen. This also came with a Samsung 250GB SSD already installed. I picked it $600 off due to being Ivy rather than Haswell.

I love the Notebook so far, its almost identical in size, but is lighter! It has USB 3 and HDMI whereas the E4310 did not. The E4310 also ran much warmer than the new notebook, as expected.

Now the negative - The screen quality of the Notebook itself is terrible. One of the worst I've ever used. Its actually much worse color wise than the E4310 it replaced. How does a 3 year old notebook have a better screen than a new model? I don't mind the 1366x768 resolution. I do wish it was higher of course, but I typically use it at my office or at home with a Dell U2412M IPS Monitor (have one at each location) and at 13" its not too bad. But the colors are terrible, the brightness is low. I'm pretty disappointed in the color production of the screen.

I know its an Office Type notebook, but my E4310 has much better colors in comparison and is 3 yrs older. This is also not a "cheap" laptop - so the screen should be decent. I know the MacBook air would have murdered it.

Not sure if this Pic shows just how bad whites are. Blacks are equally bad. (Comparing to my Monitor in this pic using a Nexus 5 camera)

Nah - I'm adapting.

Looking over the 6440, I got an i7 and a 250GB SSD for the price of an i3 and a mechanical drive, and a little higher res screen. Plus I have a smaller footprint now. I'll just keep it, its already paid by my employer. HD 4000 will power everything it will be used for and the extra CPU power will be nice.

More of just a "vent" thread.

It is a dual core i7 though, but high frequency.

Your call obviously. I would personally always sacrifice specs for a better screen. The screen is what you actually USE!
