New Dell 7000 series notebooks?

They seem to have decent specs. No reviews. Has anyone heard anything?

The predacessor XPS15 had issues with its wireless card, which they've updated with a Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260. Not sure about the utility of a touchscreen on a notebook, but they seem to have done it right with 1080 gorilla glass. Advertised battery life over 7 hrs, though I bet that's with pretty much everything turned off. It'll be interesting to see if they executed right. I've been looking for something for my wife.

Also no optical drive if that's a dealbreaker, but otherwise, it seems a nice device.

No, I'm not a shill from Austin. I'm just looking for insights as I try to replace my wife's notebook.

I think it will be hard to open. It's uses a magnetic closure, which is pretty much the standard these days, but there's no visible cut-out so that you can get under the lid to lift it up.

Also, I really can't stand those little collapsed ethernet ports, they tend to be much harder to get the cables out of.

They appear to only ship with 1366*768 panels, rather than 1080p.

I haven't used the system, those are just my quick impressions.

Is this actually replacing the XPS brand? I was wondering what the relationship between this and the XPS series is. If you select the best options for the 7000, what is left for the XPS to do?

It advertises 1080p as an option, but I can't customize it online. What's the story with that?

I am desperate for something along these lines with DisplayPort, which this has. People on these forums complain about driver support for Dell though.
