Dell Small Biz has the new Dimension 4400's using DDR Ram. Free double memory and free ground shipping too.

Apparantly, they start at $799 and they seem to be very close in price (if not exactly the same) as the 8200's. From what I've read P4 + RDRAM is still faster than P4 + DDR, but the 4400 should perform much better than the 4300/4300S using PC133.

Dell's Home & Home Office has the same system starting at $924 w/ free all-in-one print center or DVD drive or CDRW and $75 MIR for online purchases.

it's way overpriced. The extra cost over 4300 is about $100.

i'd rather get RDRAM 8200 for a little more, especially with the "double memory for free" trick.

Getreal: the 4400's DO qualify for the 2x free memory, I just configured one and it says "Special Offer! 256MB SDRAM for the Price of 128MB" and so on. This is in the Small Business Division, not the Home and Home Office.

Last time I checked SDRAM is not DDR. If you look closely at the memory configuration section, the DDR memory options do not have a free double up

Holy crap! I think you're right. I haven't read the specs too closely on the 4400. I didn't realize it could use DDR or PC133...Hmmm, that seems pretty sneaky. Damn you Dell!! Heh...

OK, I read the specs and it doesn't specifically say it can use either or. It says DDR over and over... I wonder what the deal is here?

When I ordered the $580 8200 deal last week, I asked the Dell rep about the 4400 that they were releasing this week for pre-orders. The 4400 will not ship before Jan 9 and is still an unproven platform (Intel 1.0) :frown:

When is the best time to buy a dell system?
The time when there is a price error + good promotion offers such as free cdrw plus free shipping.
Any time other than that is not a good time to buy a dell system.
