Dell today introduced a new 20-inch flat-panel monitor, the first of its size to be offered by the leading North American supplier of flat-panel monitors(a).
The Dell 2000FP is available for U.S. customers today when ordered with a Dell Precision Workstation. It is expected to be available later this year bundled with Dell Dimension desktops and as a stand-alone purchase through Dell Software & Peripherals.
The midnight gray monitor offers the viewing area of a 21-inch cathode ray tube (CRT) display. Other features include picture-in-picture capability and analog, digital, S-video and composite inputs. The latter two inputs allow for DVD and VCR direct inputs.
``Flat panel monitors consume less power and occupy less space than traditional CRTs,'' Ross Young, president of flat panel research firm DisplaySearch, said. ``The Dell 2000FP, with its improved resolution over 18-inch flat panels, is an excellent choice for computer-aided design, digital content creation, financial, medical and government environments. It's also ideal for any mission-critical use where space or power consumption is an issue.''
The Dell 2000FP is $1,399(b) when bundled with a Dell Precision workstation. Customers can order a Dell Precision Workstation 340 with a 2000FP flat panel monitor for less than $3000(c). Dell also carries a wide range of entry-level to performance CRT and flat panel monitors that are convenient to buy, easy to install and matched to other Dell products. All monitors are rigorously tested and come with Dell service and support.
