NEW Dell 1905FP 800:1 contrast LCD

Just got this LCD from dell after a deal and I must admit it really is nice. The main reason I wanted to get this monitor was because of the 800:1 contrast. Colors & Black levels are very important to me when gaming and this monitor does not fail, it certainly is a new world for LCD's. In comparison to my 17" DELL LCD which had 350:1 contrast this produces some awesome colors and depth... Just playing games like doom3 and Counterstrike Half Life source I could instantly see new things, there is such depth to all the objects. The way the flashlight now reflects on ojbects was something that almost mad my jaw drop, in other words we are so near CRT levels at this point its great.

This is a really impressive monitor, and the testing shall continue 🙂

How is the ghosting/refresh of this monitor? I too like rich colors and a bright LCD, my Samsung 172T excells at colors but has slight ghosting. I was kind of disappointed when Samsung's low latency monitors then had poorer color performance.

Argh, I wish they would offer some nice deals on these. They are moving the 17" and 20" FPs out the door, but never seem to give any insane deals on the 1905. 🙁

It's only a couple of weeks old...they have it for $503 with free shipping..not bad for a top of the line 19in

After a bit more testing, It certainly is clear the contrast is above any LCD I've seen before. Although, I would also like to state (its only fair) that I am finding out that this monitor is giving some signs of eye fatigue. Actually, I'm experiencing a bit of the same eye and tiredness I'd get with CRT's or DLP's. Obviously, with any new viewing screen your eyes can get some adjustment although without a doubt I do have a small amount of extra fatigue due to this monitor and its high contrast ratio!

:/
