Deftones are planning to release their new album, 'Lovers' in October on Maverick.

The band is currently at work writing material for the effort and will begin recording with producer Terry Date (Staind) shortly. The debut album from Team Sleep, the side project of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, has been pushed back to 2003. Chino is expected to continue work on the effort through the rest of the year.

"LOVERS" - Tentative Title of The New Deftones Album

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno called into Mary-Anne Hobbs' BBC Radio 1 Rock
Show program last night, Tuesday, March 19th, and revealed the tentative
title of the next album to be "Lovers". He also went on describe the effort
as a "really hardcore album...it's pretty loud and heavy. I wouldn't go so
far as to say it's angry, but it's not pretty by any means". So far, around
half of the album is done being written and a fall/winter release through
Maverick is being eyed. In other news, Moreno also mentioned that his side
project Team Sleep may embark on a U.K. tour in July. Team Sleep's
forthcoming Tone Def/Maverick debut is expected out in June.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! get bent you deftones hating tool.. deftones are not new metal, they've been hard skater rock for a long ass time, and they still rock better than all of the crappy music out there.
