New DDR Memory Won't Work

Hello,
This is my first post ever so please bear with me. I need help, badly, on a memory replacement issue. I've got an HP Pavilion a450n system 2 years old. The MB is an ASUS P4SD-LA (Oxford) with 2 memory slots. Maximum memory capacity is 2GB.
Yesterday I received my order from Newegg which was the GSKILL 2Gig set with 2 1Gig modules. The model number is F1-3200BIU2-2GBHX. Everything that I read and was told indicated that this memory would work. It does not. The computer will not boot. I've tried using just 1 module, both modules, switching slots. Does not work. I put the old memory, 2 mismatched 512 kb modules back in and it worked fine. Does this mean that I got bad memory or that for some reason the system is not compatible?? I'm not a computer person but know some of the basics and I am lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!!
