Sorry, but as amazing this game is, it's not worth a premature move to Vista.

Well it isn't out yet. I have a strong feeling that by the time it is released, Vista will be more mature. Many are using it now without a hitch, maybe not many gamers though.

Go to newegg and read the reviews...while they are not gospel, people are bitching about two things in general: 1) Drivers, and 2) Gaming compared to XP ain't up to snuff.

since this and UT3 is at the top of my list this year I think I will hold off to upgrade my video card until whichever is released first. Was considering a 8600 series next month depending on benchs. Would be dumb for me to upgrade now with nothing coming for a while other than STALKER this month which shouldn't take a power house card to run.

not to get off topic but does anyone have a guesstimate as to what kind of card STALKER needs to run almost max(no AA/AF)

Far Cry just failed to catch on with the Mapping/Modding Community. Hopefully Crysis changes all that.

You are correct in saying that it didn't have quite the same support as, say BF2, but there's a great deal of FC players who still map/mod..

Matto4 is out and is absolutely amazing BTW...

hmmm I wonder what is needed to run this game smoothly looking like that at 1680x1050.

is 8800 gtx only option? how about 7900 or x1950? hmm

Don't count on it.

I think it is possible, or even likely, you'll need a quad-core cpu and a an SLI/XFire G80/R600 setup to run it at 16x12 with all the eye candy turned on.

I do hope I am wrong. 😀

By the time its released I bet the highest end card at the time will do it with a dual core. Just a guess though. But thats likely with little to no AA/AF. Anything more then that I'd say SLI/XF. I don't see quad core being needed for it but wouldn't hurt.

IDK, but I doubt that games will take full advantage of 4 cores in the near future. Many games still do not take advantage of dual cores, by being able to run multiple threads, right, or am I unfairly judging the state of PC games' programming right now?

The game is already running smoothly on a 8800 and Core 2 Duo, and this is without optimizations. This was stated a few months ago when they showed off the game. 😉

Yeah, I think you're probably right about the number of cores. I do know that I have seen one demo running on a quad core cpu though.

Crysis has been programmed to make use of multi-core cpu's and a quad core cpu may be very handy.

But really, I hate talking about hardware requirements/performance for a game that isn't released yet. I admit, I am mostly pulling this stuff out my ass. 😛

That sounds good to me because when I do upgrade, I don't think I'll be getting anything special. 640MB 8800 GTS (well, whatever is equivalent when the time comes) and probably an E4300 or E6300 with a mild OC (3Ghz C2D should be enough for me). But I won't buy any hardware until Crysis is released and benchmarks are posted.

Yeah that's what im thinking. It's going to be one of those games that gets delayed for 2 years and by the time it releases it will be outdated or main steam.

Nah, its coming out soon. There was a recent Gamespot article that stated it's going into beta right now. 😉

Oh lordy...that nuke blast at the end made me giggle like a school girl. That looks so cool! Very unrealistic that a human could withstand the shockwave while everything else blew apart, but hey, it's a game. 🙂

I thought the screen shots of this game looked great, but after seeing the video with the physics in action I'm in awe.

In the game you have a super duper bio suit that can be modified to your specifications. I'm sure the suit can handle a nuclear blast 😛

I've had it with all those videos, in the end I'll have actually seen the whole game in videos w/o even having a chance to play it.... 😛 I say bring the game 😀
