New cruncher assimilated :-D

Well, I found a P4 3.0 ghz today, and couldn't resist assimilating it into my fleet. So I get Seti Driver installed, and I notice it is running two processes. I go in and change it to one process, and task manager reported that seti was still only getting 50% cpu. So......I click on performance tab and find THIS IS A DUAL CPU SYSTEM! 6 ghz of pure p4 power. Too bad its not HT...

The case badge didn't have a HT on it, and system properties only said something like P4 3.0 ghz, 2.99 ghz, or something like that

What do you want a screenshot.

The 2.8's I have didn't specify HT on the case badge either. Am I wrong to assume that it would be there? In magazine ads, the image always has the little HT in the corner. I can go back over there and set it to 4 processes, and watch the results in the SetiQ, but I have no way of knowing if anyone shuts it off overnight :/

It is probably this CPU: Pentium 4 3.06GHz 533MHz

They are not hyperthreaded.

Dang, a dualie with P4s. I asked just the other day if there was a motherboard that would support dual P4s and the only answer I got was, "Yes, they call them Xeons". From my good buddy, Crazee. 😛 😀

So what motherboard does that system have in it?

Ok, upon further thought, is it possible the thing is HT and not a dual. Does HT make the processor show up twice in device properties, and show two seperate usage graphs in the task manager?

yes
the 3.06 was the only 533 fsb processor with ht

pop the side panel off or check the bios

you got a northwood with ht=my bet

Yes

Actually, it HT enabled. HT shows up as a Dual System. You'll get 30% more by running 2 instances (around 30% or so) of SETI on that PC... It should be good for 16 to 18 WU's per day! 😀

GREAT addition! 😀

WOW. One WU sent in after 3 hours 10 minutes. Second WU sent in 13 minutes after that.

HT in action! 😀

One processor...working on two WU's at one time.....using "All" of the processor....and getting great results! 😀
