I'd would like suggestions on a new CRT monitor for my system. I'd prefer black but I reckon that doesn't matter. The price range is from $250 and down with shipping.

is there any reason you are staying with CRT...

I understand there is nothing wrong with CRT, but LCD is just better on my eyes...

I am young and have perfect vision. LCD is too expensive and doesn't seem worth the price at this point. plus I am building a whole new system. Need to save some money where I can.

Careful with teh viewsonic. My roommate has one on his desk and it is off. If doesnt turn on. Its a 21" Graphics/Professional one. Go with Sony or Nec/Mistu. is my 2 cents.

pah! My viewsonic has run flawlessly for 5 years. Viewsonic are fine monitors, one bad one doesn't mean they are crap. And of course, one good one doesn't mean they are great either. My office is running about 200 of them, no problems.

Well I was looking at NEC/Mitsubishi models and I came across a cheaper model that seems somewhat comparable to the NEC/MITSUBISHI FE991SB-BK.

NEC/MITSUBISHI AS900-BK

What's the thought on that monitor?

The FE991SB-BK is a much better monitor; flat screen and aperture grille.
