It really is retarded what he is saying. People that are irresponsible with possible credit use and then blame it on their ability to have it is seriously a mind-fuck. How can you be that stupid.

If you're irresponsible, own up to it, accept it, and tell yourSELF not to use it. Don't tell other people it's bad for them. It's not our fault you're stupid and can't control yourself - plenty of others can.
And I'd have to change my avatar. I would not be happy.

Its not a matter of being stupid.

Some people have a moral objection to debt and usury.

Its like drinkers saying everyone should drink, smokers saying everyone should smoke,,,, some people simply choose not to.

Its called living within your means.

I pay cash because I choose to be debt free.

And people like you are and will become the "bad" guys and end up with poor credit rating in the very near future.

Person that's responsible or that pays off balance every month is what banks hate the most!!!

You could have saved money by cooking at home.

That is pretty stupid to throw money away.

Except for I'm not throwing it away. I'm paying extra money for the convenience and service of eating out. My time has value associated with it.

In your case you really are throwing money away for absolutely nothing in return.

This is about making money. It's like not using a tax advantage - you're basically tossing away free money.

If you're irresponsible with your ability to say "OOOOOOO I CAN CHARGE $3k for a brand new expensive ass brand name suit right now!" and somehow not resist - you have mental problems.

The reason debt exists is because there is profit involved with interest payments (1st) and secondly, it exists because people do need help on occasion - and sometimes there is no other answer. I still can't fathom how you find debt to morally wrong - given it is used for helping people. The fact that some people use it wrongly and have consequences isn't the fault of debt.

I have over $30k in liquid assets, as well as retirement funds and other items I can pull from. Do you think I'm charging to a credit card because I want to be in debt? Hell no, it's because that $30k is sitting the bank an extra month for earned interest. The credit cards are earning 1-5% cashback on all purchases, and the credit cards are giving me support in case there is a problem with a transaction.

Except you are not "making money."

You are using other people to make money. Thus the term usury.
Ever worked in consumer finance with clientele averaging a 550 fico? You're right, I'm not making it. I'm earning it.

And your boss/company is using you (or did) to make more $$ than they paid you. You were used. The horror.

Get over it.

There are two ways to make/earn money,

Provide a service.

Manufacturer a product.

Borrowing money does neither one. You are using the less fortunate to get money, but you are not making money. There is a difference between get, make and earn.

He we go again with this thread. A lot of BS being spewed. Lets all get CCs and pay off ever month like the high and mighty claim they do. If everyone was to do what you guys do then there would be no more credit card companies left because they lose money and go out of business or you would not make any more % back on the cards. In fact if everyone was paying off the cards the CC companies would charge a fee just to have one but we all know that is not what is really happening. Most people can't control themselves when it comes to using a card with in their means. To say that everyone should have one is pretty stupid thing to say because most people have no self control. You guys need the dumb people to have them to make your 3%.

Second all you people who clam to be debt free don't have any loans on houses or cars? I call BS on that. If you have a house loan you ain't debt free.

3rd saying that having debt is morally wrong is pretty stupid too. Come on I hate debt too but calling it morally wrong I don't think so.

Lastly saying that people who don't have credit cards are same type of people who hide money under there mattress and only put in the minimum in their 401k is biggest BS I ever heard. I'm willing to bet that those type of people are more willing to save their money in a 401k because they are the types not to spend it in the first place so they going to have more of it to put in the 401k.

I don't own any CC and I'm debt free. The last time I had debt was in 2008. I had a house loan for 5 years I watched more money go out the door then if I would have paid it off with cash to begin with. All it did was drive me to get that house paid of as quickly as possible. Instead of me going the whole 30 years on the loan I did it in 5 and saved a boat load of money.

We are making money by knowing the rare art of managing our finances correctly and efficiently. We're sorry you're not cut out for it :D

I am providing a service for a fee. Unfortunatelly, people don't always think they need to pay for the service or fee and I have to expend extra effort and earn it back.

Admit it. You're hurt that you've been (were) used by your employer to make more than you were paid. Usury 101.

....Credit cards make a good chunk out of the small % fees that every merchant accepts when they agree to letting them be used.... :awe:

You are right, I am not cut out for it.

I have a conscience which bothers me knowing less fortunate people are paying for my perks.

What about investing?

Isn't investing providing a service as you are providing working capital.

....And those "other people" would stop abusing/paying debt if you stop?

Whatever floats your boat man, but there is nothing but advantages for the informed consumer as far as credit goes.

Nope

There is a homeless guy who walks around town. Sometimes he stands outside the local walmart and watches people go by.

When I see him I will stop and give him a few dollars. One time might be $2, the next time it might $10.

The money I give him is not enough to buy a home, or even buy a pair of shoes. But it should be enough to get something to eat at mcdonalds, or a cup of coffee.

So yea, it does float my boat knowing that I am not using anyone else.

That reminds me of another advantage!!! I don't carry cash so I have nothing to hand out the 10 bum's I pass by daily going to work.

No guilt trip because I truthfully don't have anything I can hand him unless it's a piece of fruit out of my lunch... But surprisingly, they always reject that and tell me they don't want it. Strange... :hmm:

Right now? ~$900 total for all 5 of my credit cards combined. My mortgage alone is $2200, my groceries monthly are ~$400, Gas another $200, toss in plenty more for summer utilities and some for the occasional restaurant visit.
