I am wondering how it relates to Dell DJs which are also made by Creative.

I think this is better than DJ. Just came out last month, it's a complete redesign from the older Zen Xtra. It has a touch pad like the ipod so scolling should be improved in large song lists. 24 hrs battery life has been tested to be true by several users.
