New Cpu's and Vid Cards...

Hey all,

I've been waiting along like most of you for the new video card lineup. The 6800's and Ati's x800 line is now out (although in short limit). A64's have also price dropped considerably and socket 939 + nforce 4 is out with sli.

My question is, when will the dual core cpu's come out (month) and how well will they be performing? When is the word on the new video cards going to come out (the next generation ones) I heard something about them also having a dual core...?

Thanks...

Pixle.

dualcore for 940 (Opeteron late 2005) for 939 2006 they should run at 80-90% speed of two opterons similar clocked, only programs written for multi-CPU environments will feel the speed boost though.

Rumors says that nvidia isn't planning anything new until late 2005-06, due to SLI
ATI on the other hand has to come up with something, so probably summer-autumn 05

According to their latest roadmap (which is a month old), dual core for the performance market should be released around mid 2005. When I first read it, I thought that it's a very optimistic look on dual core. However, with the recent CES and Intel showing off their own dual core (Smithfield), I think AMD just might stay on track just to put pressure on Intel. However, they did say that the price tag for a dual core CPU is going to be around the $700 mark.

hmm, i would say forget the dual core's for now, will be a long time before they arrive, probably even longer than the estimations....
obviously amd64 chips perform very good in gaming, a little better than pentium chips...
the X850 should become more available then the X800, i have an asus X800XT plat.ed, and am very pleased with it, the X850 has about 5% higher clock speeds and as i said should become more available, so that would seem like a good choice??
