New CPU Upgrade 800 900 or 1000?

I will be upgrading my current BP6 dual 466(525) to a Athlon system and would like some feedback from anyone that could help me in my decision.
I am planning on buying an ABIT KT7A (RAID still undecided since I have a SCSI-2 Setup)
and slapping it in my Inwin G500 (300 p/s) and popping in a Hercules Geforce 2MX (couldn't get it to work stable in the BP6)

However, I am trying to get by rather cheaply and am not sure if I should buy the 800, 900, or the 1Ghz. I want to get one of the TBs for the larger cache on die.
I would be interested in O/C the system somewhat (No extreme cooler, just a nice GlobalWin) and am wondering if I should save a few bucks and get the slower CPUs and clock it close to 1Ghz or just spend the extra and run the 1GHz at the native 100 speed for now.

Any insight anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, great site. Glad I found it.

To get the best bang for your buck, I'd go with an 850. I just got one for $108 a week ago. Easily o/c to 950 on an MSI K7Tpro2a. I've run at 1000 with the core Voltage bumped, but was a little unstable, I haven't tweaked it too much, I'm sure with time I could get it more stable at 1000.

He was wanting to go cheap, Compuwhiz wants $260 for one of those 1.3gig chips. You can get a 1gig cpu for $175 on pricewatch, it should make at least 1.1gig.

For What Its Worth,

I am running a Duron 800 OC'd to 1 gig.

Very stable and low cpu temps of 100-105 F.

I run my pc 24/7.

Abit KT7 Raid
Alpha PEP 66
Antec SX830 ( w/ 4 fans)
256 meg Crucial PC133 Cas 2

Thanks for the inputs folks. I was planning on having more to spend but my boss decided otherwise. I still may be able to scrimp for the 1GHz Chip MB and HSF deal at a computer show this weekend. I will not be using the best RAM for now, but if I go with the 1GHz I won't be in a huge hurry to O/C it.
All depends on their costs.
To defend SCSIFreek I think he was refering to a 1GHz board that is clocked to 1.3 perhaps, though I may be mistaken.

Hopefully, Sat afternoon I will be in the process of rebuilding a few boxes.
