My home storage/media delivery machine is starting to show serious signs of needing an upgrade. That will be easy as I'll downgrade one of my 2600k machine guts into it.

Question though is what to get to replace the now gutless 2600k machine. It is normally used to drive 2 1920*1200 displays, with one running a game and the other showing streamed content from the server as well as some browser windows/games.

Which cpus should I be looking at?

OK, then my advice would be to wait for Skylake; it's coming in just a few weeks. Pick up the unlocked i5 6600K if you don't want to spend the extra for the i7 6700K and enjoy 🙂

I don't recommend going with Haswell now because with Skylake you will get a faster processor and a significantly better platform.
