I just got a new CPU/Mobo setup. The CPU is a socket 939 AMD 64 3000+ Venice core. The Motherboard is an ASUS A8V Deluxe. When I power it on, all fans and drives have power, my video card and CPU warm up. There's no display on the monitor. The orange light is lit up (no signal at all).
The motherboard has voice alerts when it detects a problem. With the CPU in, there is no alert. When I remove the CPU and power it up, the alert says "No CPU installed".
The video card I'm using is a ATI AIW 9800 Pro. I've tried 3 different power supplies and 2 video cards, and none of them do anything different. It is supposed to beep when it runs through the tests, but it doesn't. It seems like the CPU isn't doing anything. I called ASUS tech support and they said to RMA the CPU, but could this be a BIOS problem?
The Venice core is fairly new, and may not be supported by the BIOS that came with the board. I have a copy of the latest BIOS, but I don't have a way to put it on the Motherboard since I can't get to the post screen. Is there any way I can tell for sure if the CPU was DOA or if it's just a BIOS problem?
