I swapped out an X2 3800 cpu and replaced it with a X2 4800 cpu on a ASUS A8V Deluxe mob. I can get it to post and run for a while but then it stops and shuts down. Even if I go into setup it will shut down. Could this be a power supply issue? What can I do to trouble shoot. My bios is up to date. Thanks.

What power supply are you using and what are the rest of your specs. Have you tried reseating the new cpu ?

SHAME ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my haste (BELIEVE IT OR NOT) I installed the heat sink fan with the plastic enclosure that covers the base and grease. It's running with no problems now with a cpu temp of 35c idle. Could I have done any damage? Should I remove fan and heat sink and buy some new grease and reinstall or leave well enough alone for now? Am I stupid or what?@#$&*!!!
