New CPU Fan Recommendations

I'm looking for a new CPU fan for my Q6600. Right now I have a fan that has the CPU idling at around 45C and I can hear it from 10 feet away. I'm looking for something that's close to silent and would allow me to overclock my CPU in the future if I want to.

What's the difference in a 3 pin and 4 pin CPU fan?
What's better, Auto fan speed or a fan controller?
I will be using it on a Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP Motherboard in a XION I case. I'm hoping to be able to fit the CPU fan inside without having to remove the back panel fans.

Please post some links to good fans. My limit is $50 +/- a little depending on quality but I'm open to any price range and suggestion. I'm also open to ordering from any website that's reliable.

you will not get silent for a Q6600. you can get a passive heatsink such as the TRUE, but that will still require louder case fans to provide the airflow for it.

for $50 there is no silent option.

there is quiet though. the tuniq tower is quiet. the s183 is quiet. depends on the rest of your case
