New cpu fan, now problems with sound output.

I just replaced a 90 mm Scythe PWM cpu fan with a 120 mm Scythe Kama PWM fan (DFS122512L) and had a strange problem with my sound. I had to turn the speakers way up to get the normal volume level, and, of course, the hiss was horrible. I put the 90 mm fan back in and there's no problem again.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

Here's my system:

GA-P35-DS3L
2GB RAM
8800 GTS 320MB
650W power supply
X-Fi XtremeGamer

I don't think it's hitting anything. The fan sticks out more towards the side panel of the case, but that's about it. I'll put it back in later and check that out to make sure.

Thanks.

Well something has to be touching where it shouldn't be effecting sound like that. The only other thing i could think of is EMI form the fan. But thats not likely and would be causing static in the sound not a drop in volume.

Well I put the 120 mm fan back in and there's no problem now! Maybe the fan clips weren't pushed all the way into the heat sink the first time and they were in contact with something. I'm glad I didn't do any damage!

Thanks for the help.
