I am just doing last minute things on a computer i am building for a friend. one of those things included giving 3dmark a run.

my problem is that the system will hang up at the 3dmark06 splash screen, cause the entire pc to stall. I can't click on start, however i can ctrl-alt-del. this allows me to end task however after doing this no other programs will run. Have to restart to do anything. Yes i have given 06 aple time to load, still does nothing.

tried out 3dmark05, that works fine, got a nice score i think 10,9xx. I have run rthdribl with no problems either. video card gets to about 71c load. aquamark3 works until the end when i get an error, litteraly right at the end as its transitioning to give me a score.

so a couple things are funky. I ran superpi 32m, 1m btw 1 min was nice - 26s. so i dont think its cpu stability related.

I have tried a few different video card drivers. 6.7, 6.8, and 6.9, all do same problem. if i cant figure it out i will reinstall windows. anybody experience this crap?

specs:
6400 - not overclocked
saphire x1900xt - not overclocked
geil 2x1g 667
asus p5b deluxe wifi

ok on my opty machine it takes like 20 seconds.

on the core2duo machine it takes around 30 MINUTES! tried it a few times now, 3 to be exact, every time it loads about 30 min after i start it.

im gonna run memtest tomorrow. matt could be right, heard ddr2 is really picky with boards.

i could try new bios too.

There is a patch for the AquaMark problem. It's well known and easily fixed. Do a Google.

the ram slots seem really odd. i will get different 1min super pi results that dont make sense.

like dual channel (yellow yellow) i get 28s, single channel (black yellow closest to cpu) i get 26s, dual channel (black black i get 25). repeated them a few times to make sure and like usual the times dont change on a rerun.
