New Conroe system running - sound issues -

Ok, just got my system up and running yesterday, here are the quick specs:

E6400, P5W-DH, 2G PQI 667, 320g Seagate, Logitech 5500 speakers.

Basically the issue is that any time there is even a small load on the processor all music slows down to like 75% play speed. I was under the impression that the 'dual core' processor should have no issue with simple things like this and I can't seem to figure out what the issue is. All drivers have been updated, and when there is no other active apps it seems to play sound (music at least) perfectly.

Any ideas?

Did you install chipset drivers? (The cd that came with motherboard)

im not sure if this is true about conroe builds as well, in fact ive never seen evidence to support this on AM2 builds, but i have heard it, so its worth looking in to.

some people have mentioned needing drivers specifically for thier cpu with am2 systems. im not sure if this is the case or even if they have drivers for the conroes, but who knows.

also - have you tried re-installing sound drivers. and what is ur sound card, i didnt look any of the stuff up that u listed, everything intel related seems to be annoying alphanumerics to remember
