I'm getting ready to buy a new system with the following:
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
2 GB of DDR2 RAM
HIS X1900 XT IceQ3 512MB
Seagate 750GB SATA Drive
Coolmaster CM Stacker 810 Case
BenQ DW1655 DVD Burner
The problem is, I don't know which memory to buy. I've read several articles on memory, but none have said what the minimum requirements are or how much higher it would be a good idea to go above them. I do mild overclocking sometimes but nothing heavy. I'd like a little headroom for overclocking but I don't want to spend a lot of extra cash for faster RAM that I probably wouldn't push to it's potential.
Here's the RAM I've been looking at with pricing from Monarch Computers:
$189.99 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) DDR2 (667) PC2-5400 OCZ Special OPS Edition XTC (OCZ2SOE6672GK)
$159.80 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) DDR2 (667) PC2-5300 Patriot Signature (PSD22G667K)
$304.82 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) DDR2 (800) PC2-6400 Corsair (TWIN2X2048-6400C4)
I'm buying instead of building this time because I just don't have the time to build right now sadly. I decided to use Monarch because they have a lot of configuration options. I've never had them (or anyone) build me a system before, but I have recommended them to other people who have been satisfied. If anyone knows of anywhere else I might consider, please post.
Anyway, I'd like to know which RAM you'd suggest and why. If you know of any good articles on this I could read up on, please post those too.
