I've just started loading software on a new system which has a 6700 Core2 Duo on an Intel Box 975 mobo. It is configured with RAID disabled.

It takes the BIOS about 25 seconds to detect the two 320GB HDs during boot up, and 35 seconds to get to the first Windows screen.

My old AMD 3700 machine takes 5 seconds to get to the first Windows screen.

HELP!! What's going on here?!?

Full specs please. Otherwise, there's not enough info to troubleshoot.

That's enough to get started, but I promise nothing. There are many others here with better ideas than me.

Some things to try:
1. In the BIOS, are you doing a full RAM check every time you boot? With 2 Gigs of RAM, that could easily be the first 25 secs.
2. Are all the drivers for the mobo loaded?
3. Any USB storage attached? When I leave my tumb drive plugged in during a reboot, I can get the kind of delay you describe.

I hope this is helpful.

I had some problems with my PATA HDDs that slowed down windows fresh installation and every boot after the install. After I removed them everything worked fine.. But I see you have only SATA drives so..

Yea i would think it would be that. Go enable "quick boot" in the BIOS if you havent already. It will skip some tests when booting, nothing important.
