My computer died about a week ago and I have been shopping around for a new computer. I will mostly be doing gaming and would like to be able to play latest games with decent graphics. Would also like to OC I was looking at cyberpowerpc.com and this is what I found. Also I have been out of the hardware loop for a while so I am kinda lost as to what is good or not 😛 tried to read as many reviews on produts as i could. So if somthing I picked sucks please say so.

Just wanted some opoinions on wether this is a good deal and any parts that would be a better fit. I would also like some opinions on wether it would be better to build it myself.

My budget is around $1500 maybe can go little higher.

Thanks before hand to everyone who responds.

1) If you build it yourself you'll save a lot of money.
2) If you build it yourself you'll know how for the future, it's an interesting and educating process!
3) Don't bother with RAID-0, for the price of an extra hard drive all you're acheiving is halving the average time before failure.
4) When you build it yourself, go for something like the Corsair 520HX PSU.
5) If you're gaming, the E8400 is probably better for now.
6) You can get away with onboard sound, it's great quality recently.
7) I'd personally get a P35 chipset board, not an SLI-board.
8) I'd also get 4GB of DDR2-800 (you can get this for $90 off newegg).
9) You're paying them to do "professional wiring" on your case? Seriously, build it yourself and save the $$$!

Thanks for the advice 😛 At first I was going to build it mysef but I just wantedt see if buying it from a site like that was worth the money. Alright I will look for parts and post a new build up. Also I have 1 question.

What is the big difference between 32bit and 64 bit vista and what would be the best to use?

Difference, for a average user/gamer, none. But, Vista 64x does see all 4gb of ram, and Vista 32x does not. Some games allready want 3gb of ram, so 64x is just a little more futureproof then 32x.

Honestly though, fill out this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2090214&enterthread=y and we'll help you with your new build. For 1500$ you can build yourself quite a kickass PC, including a new 20/22 inch screen if you need one !

OK Here is my new build. Got all prices rom newegg as I have to go to work soon and didnt have timeto search through other sites.

First I am filling out the thread that MarcVenice told me to.

1. mostly gaming but also want to be able to burn movies and music.

2. $1500

3. US

4. no preference just whatever is decent.

5. None.

6.yes

7. I would like to OC

So I have some room for a few upgrades if need be and I may still get a monitor.

Definitely build yourself.
Buy the psu at buy.com
Get 4 GB of mem regardless of XP/Vista as even 3.25 as recognized in XP will be a huge upgrade over 2.
Get SATA HDD. 2 of the Samsung 500 GBs would be ideal.
Maybe an external HDD to backup to.

For 1500 you should look at adding the Acer 24" monitor that has been drawing praise on the monitor threads.

Thanks for the advice guys. I changed the cooler and HDD. I was thinking of getting one 500gb hdd and then A raptor also. What are your guys thoughts on that?.

I also heard that getting a quad wuld be better as its future proof but from your guys advice its sounding like the E8400 is better for me since im going to do a lot of gaming.

Unless you crunch numbers with a CPU intensive application all the time, you'll be happier with an E8400. however if you're an overclocking rockstar, then a quadcore is just... icing on the cake.

Often high density HD's like the 750gb Samsung F1 are pretty much equally fast in game loading times as a raptor. They simply offer 5 times the storage amount though. Raptors are noisy fella's as well. Few years ago they might have been nice, but right now I don't really see the need for them.

Agree with Marc on the Raptor. Still has a slight performance advantage in some areas, but overall I don't consider it worth the price.

thanks for all the advice. I am planning on buying all the parts this weekend. With a P35 MB can i add a second vid card down the line?

P35 only supports crossfire, but only with a 16x pci-e slot and a pci-e4 4x slot I think, so a second card 'might' get bottlenecked in the 4x pci-e slot. Let me assure you though, adding a SECOND videocard is not a upgrade strategy, by the time you have the money to add a new videocard, you are better of buying a 'single' new videocard, to replace your old one. That's because crossfire/sli, ati's and nvidia's dual card solutions respectively, don't scale all that well, and you need a more expensive motherboard, as well as a more powerfull PSU. All the money you save not buying a more expensive mobo/psu should save you enough money to buy a 'new' videocard in the future.

In the end, SLI/Crossfire, at least for now, is only for high-end gaming rigs, for people who want maximum performance right now.
