I just recently got an athlon 1600+ and a shuttle ak31a (via kt266a). I put all my stuff in and turned it on. Everything seems to be working except my front case lights. The mobo is on (theres a light) and my video card is on (fan spinning) but when I start my monitor doesnt show anything. Just sits there blinking (the power button). Anybody know whats wrong? I'll be checking in every few minutes so fell free to ask a question if theres more info needed. BTW, I dont think anything is fried since i had it on for about a minute and there was no sign of frying. It never posted at all which leads me to believe that the cpu/mobo is ok since if it fried, it woulda started up and then frozen.

hmm well i tried adding a floppy (the instructions said something about a boot disk). All the drives seem the start up. I tried a diff monitor and still nothing. I'm startin to think maybe the cpu is fried.

Often the problem is RAM, video adapter, or cpu not fully seated. Sometimes a spacer is shorting out the motherboard. Sometimes the cpu fan is not properly connected. If an LED doesn't light up, reverse it's connector on the motherboard. Best to start with minimal configuration.

Biggest problem can be the AGP card is not seated properly... give it a good shove in the downward direction and see if that helps.
